Chillout Jazz
Alfred Hirsch was born in Bremen in 1973.
He studied design but had to cut his studies short in 2001 due to a serious rheumatic illness.
Since then he has been living in less stressful surroundings in a quiet suburb. After much hard work in his
home studio, it was in this setting that his debut album Motivation was created.
It is an assortment of eleven instrumental tracks, encompassing the genres of jazz, funk and pop. These
together create a headstrong, melodic fusion in a previously unheard style yet one which is typical of Alfred
Hirsch. He calls his music "Chillout Jazz".
The harmonica is the integral part of his music, alongside the acoustic guitar and electronic rhythms. However,
Alfred Hirsch does not just play any old harmonica, but in fact plays a harmonica which he developed himself,
known as the "diminished harp". It is a specially tuned, diatonic harmonica with additional reeds and an unmistakable
tone. This harmonica is in the league of virtuosos and the stylistically brilliant.
